The Growing Impact of Ocean Acidification on Marine Life

Sorry to report that there is bad news concerning the Growing Impact of Ocean Acidification on Marine Life Worldwide.

And with transiting Neptune now in its own sign of fishy, murky Pisces (and increasing paranoia within the Collective Unconscious and bringing increases of toxins, poisons, contamination, and infections in its watery wake), we have pineal gland calcification concerns to be addressed. Check out a previous post with an informative video on how to do just that--because our 3rd eye intuitive faculties need relief!

Why Does This Species of Fish Migrate? BP Oil Spill in the news

Well, here's a Curious Fish Fact: 80% of a species of freshwater fish, the Common roach fish (Rutilus rutilus) migrates to nearby streams in order to keep from becoming a predator's dinner. Little smarties!

And while it's true that in the last several months I've had no time for drawing botanical fish portraits, fresh or salty, I am remiss in updating Dreamyfish Art due to a new member entering our family in 2012--yet I thought you might want to get the scoop on roach fish! Babies do have schedules of their own, don't they?

So here's a tidbit on the current courtroom drama in which the judge watchs former BP head Tony Hayward's testimony about BP's 2010 spoilage of our Gulf Coast.

Now here's the usual message of this blog brought to you by the Ornate butterfish you see pictured below:

West Coast forage fish in danger 11.4.11

Hello again, fellow fish lovers!

Oceana has released a new report concerning dangerous conditions of West Coast forage fish which you may wish to check out.

Now you know I have no drawings of forage fish from the West Coast in my files but here's a little fellow you may have met before who'd like to say, Hi! and weigh in support of his foraging cousins...

This is my pencil drawing of a Pale sweetlips from Western Australia. But here are some other sweetlips specimens with photos and details.

To save ourselves, we must Save Our Oceans!

Massive Fish and Blackbird Deaths in Arkansas

As midnight approached on New Years Eve 2010, Beebe, Arkansas experienced thousands of redwing blackbirds falling dead from the sky within a few minutes - for mysterious reasons. Tests are underway. Chem trails or sonic booms may be implicated but the US government probably won't admit it if they're the cause. We'll see.

Plus, a week earlier, an annual fish kill along a stretch of the Arkansas River turned out to be much larger than ever before - perhaps 100,000. What the hey is going on in Arkansas?

Magpie morwong and all the Dreamyfish here want answers and environmental improvements for 2011! Don't you?

Save Our Oceans! Save Our Rivers, Birds, and Fish!

Here is a video concerning mysterious deaths of birds and fish:

Breaksea cod portrait now a sticker for Save Our Oceans!

Today's good news is that Breaksea cod is now appearing on cool stickers to remind us all to Save Our Oceans!

The bad news is that there's a lot of saving that needs to be done - even before the ongoing Gulf oil spill fiasco occurred. If someone wanted to break some hearts by way of sabotage or by negligence, they succeeded too well, didn't they?

Turns out that Halliburton was involved in the recent setting up of the oil platform that "exploded" so we'll see if the corporation's role is honestly and fully investigated, and if it amounts to anything.

Well, click above to view Breaksea cod's 'sticker debut' then visit Jude's Zazzle Art Shop to discover more fishy items fit for browsing, plus, a whole bunch of other designs besides...

Portrait of a Cardinalfish w/ photos of his cousins

When Cardinalfish comes out to play
the smaller fishies speed away!

Actually I don't know if all the smaller fishies speed away. Perhaps some of them mosey away but no one could blame them for this yellow Cardinalfish seems poised for quick action...even if only in his private dreams here in the Dreamyfish Art Gallery!

Now I am about to do something I don't think I've ever done on this Save Our Oceans blog: pass along a link to a site that sells fish: their page displays photos of reputedly available Cardinalfish of which there are many in glorious colors and stripes. J'adore the blue one!

Personally I'd want to research a fish-procuring company's policies and methods concerning how they procure their offerings to the public of tropical and other fish. Sounds quite lucrative, doesn't it? Especially if certain other wildlife specimen are included in their product line.

However, one reason the link is being included is the paragraph at the bottom of its webpage with info (which has nothing to do with stalking, Australian dentists stealing Clownfish, or with denuding coral reefs of their denizens) that tells how various lighting in aquariums affect the colors of the fish you might order online - and the fact that AquaCon cannot gurantee your fish will look or be the same color or shade of color as you saw online. So there. Seems fair to me.

But tell me: why do some companies use the word con in their names if they want the public to trust them? Oh well. Enjoy the fish photos, they're lovely. But our yellow fellow's mugshot is not among the finny panoply!

Or is he.....?

'Scorpio Girl's new party frock' now a cool Beach Tote!

Know what? It pleases me to announce that one of my drawings Scorpio Girl's new party frock makes a smashing design for a Beach Tote...check out her sepia portrait trimmed coolly in brown, if you wish!

Perhaps if we move to Save Our Oceans before any more dilly-dawdling, we may keep a beach or two...bikinis optional.

Then snagging yourself a whimsical Beach Tote would make a lot more sense for carrying all your stuff (any time of year actually.)

Don't go! but if you must, please drop by a new Art Gallery at Sepia Art Theater where make-believe is behind the curtain and thespians may take their gracious bows & accept fragrant bouquets from ardent fans with much Leonine pride...it's Art, Drama, & Chocolates at Sepia Art Theater, and even Julia Child stops by for a small visit.

Here's icon and avatar of the Sepia Art Theater, Cosmea Collyns...that's Cos may' uh...click above and check out her portrait done in sepia as part of an Art Slideshow...

Marine debris can turn on your lights, says Red fairy basslet

September 18, 2009 Marine News:

Reuters reports that it's time for the 24th annual International Coastal Cleanup when thousands of volunteers worldwide participate in collecting marine debris from ocean coasts and waterways after which each piece is catalogued, indexed, and turned into clean, renewable energy to power our homes.

As you know, ocean debris is one of the biggest problems faced by marine life. Debris ruins water quality yet its ill effects are completely preventable.

But given humankind's sloppy ways, the next best thing to stopping the littering and dumping is this massive global movement to clean up waterways and coasts that deserve more care from their visitors and neighbors...that'd be us.

And you don't have to be a New-Age-y sort of Gaia fan to know that our Mother Earth mourns constantly on behalf of her watery creatures of the deep, the ones we treat so cavalierly at their, and at our own, peril.

If ever I've heard of a 'make lemonade out of lemons' solution for pollution, it would be the annual International Coastal Cleanup project, for we must have decent water in order to make the best lemonade.

Why its health and environmental benefits are too numerous to mention!

Red Fairy Basslet joins me in saying, Save Our Oceans!

Stimulus Money to Fund Coral Reef Restoration!

McClatchy News is reporting that $3.3 million from the president's stimulus package is to fund the restoration of coral reefs in Florida and the US Virgin Islands.

All the Dreamyfish here in the Dreamyfish Art collection are psyched to hear the good news and our little blue planet should be as well...

False Senator Wrasse says Hello!

A charming False Senator wrasse has floated by to say Hello and to give a tout-out to the political observations made through an astrological lens which occur regularly at Stars Over Washington if you're game.

Yes, it's true that irrascible false senators abound on Capitol Hill but not so many remain in the oceans of Western Australia, as this little fellow might attest. He's an Aussie native, you know.

And he'd like to take this opportunity to say: Save Our Oceans!

Sargassum fish video + a Blue-spotted Trevally portrait

This National Geographic video shows Sargassum fish artfully camouflaging themselves to blend in with sargassum plants in order to ambush unsuspecting prey...kind of like Washington politicians who pretend to be caring human beings the better to pounce upon us, but never mind that.

And here's a pencil portrait of a little Blue-spotted Trevally from Western Australia - ready for his supper and wishing he could be as artful as a Sargassum fish!

If you must, you'll find more Politics available at:

Stars Over Washington (since Oct 2005) and Jude's Threshold, a tapestry blog of Art, Astrology, and Politics...with a light sprinkling of Political Poetry upon occasion.

Plus, there are more botanical drawings and Children's and Cosmic Art to be viewed at Secret Moon Art for when you're in a most mysterious mood.

But there's one thing no longer a mystery: we must Save Our Oceans, people!

Early marine biologist Rachel Carson

Her scientific work spurring President John F. Kennedy to create the EPA, pioneer environmentalist and marine biologist Rachel Carson was born May 27, 1907.

Even if you don't speak any astrologese at all, check out my post written in 2007 for the 100th anniversary of Carson's birth - and you'll find a link to radio's Living On Earth 's feature upon her for the anniversary, plus some personality details based on her natal chart's planets, and some links to her still-popular books including ecology's clarion call: Silent Spring.
