Did Humans Make Oceans Lose Its Memory? Geeky Science! - Thom Hartmann

May 12, 2022

Here's progressive broadcaster and author Thom Hartmann with one of his recent Geeky Science segments:

And here's a Yellow-eyed surgeonfish floating in from Western Australia to watch Thom's video!

Why Does This Species of Fish Migrate? BP Oil Spill in the news

Well, here's a Curious Fish Fact: 80% of a species of freshwater fish, the Common roach fish (Rutilus rutilus) migrates to nearby streams in order to keep from becoming a predator's dinner. Little smarties!

And while it's true that in the last several months I've had no time for drawing botanical fish portraits, fresh or salty, I am remiss in updating Dreamyfish Art due to a new member entering our family in 2012--yet I thought you might want to get the scoop on roach fish! Babies do have schedules of their own, don't they?

So here's a tidbit on the current courtroom drama in which the judge watchs former BP head Tony Hayward's testimony about BP's 2010 spoilage of our Gulf Coast.

Now here's the usual message of this blog brought to you by the Ornate butterfish you see pictured below:

Is Deepwater Horizon Oil Leaking Again? 9.1.11

Sliding Down a Slicky Memory Lane (a BP-Gulf Blowout Deja-vu)

by Jude Cowell

Is the belatedly capped Deepwater Horizon well in the Gulf of Mexico leaking oil? A photo from 2010 indicates this may be so, I'm very sad to tell you.

Remember that happy day when I posted that the 'BP cap is stopping leak' circa July 15, 2010?

The headline then was that no more oil is leaking from the Deepwater Horizon well. Yes, Neptune is deeply involved in the whole BP oil fiasco and its cover-up since in Astrology nebulous Neptune rules oceans, oil, gas, leaks, fraud, deception, veils, illusions, delusions, cover-ups, dispersants and chemicals, poisons, drugs, smothering, and lies.

In a word? BP.

Now it's September 2011 and Scotland's North Sea has recently been breached by an oil leak with environmentalists demanding more answers from Royal Dutch Shell than they've received so far.

As you know, the propaganda going round is that Corporations Are People, Too--until the bagpiper is ready to be paid. Then they skip out on the bill and leave government (we-the-people) with as much of their tab as they can get away with.

Well, the little Red-banded wrasse you see below doesn't seem much impressed with 'royalty' acting badly no matter which flag they fly. He hints that human personages who can't get enough power and wealth need to get wise to their bad selves, back off, and take responsibility for their activities like all Oil Can Harrys end up doing if they criminalize society long enough--creeping about oppressing people and having their misguided way.

Okay, I'll hush about it. For now. And turn you over to Mr. Red-banded in a close-up from his Dreamyfish Art portrait, a botanical pencil rendering by yours truly but within his own imaginary scenario as a colorful backdrop in which to float about in his fondest dreams!

Hey! If you like the occasional fish drawing or Art on the cosmic side, you may wish to browse my Jude Cowell Art Shop @ Zazzle for Dreamyfish Art prints and posters (including the little fellow above), plus other art-decorated goodies such as iPad and iPhone covers waiting for you to check them out as you may!

Oh, and fyi: Stars Over Washington has been recently updated with videos and Political Astrology articles (written in English, not to fret) if you're interested. jc

Portrait of a Cardinalfish w/ photos of his cousins

When Cardinalfish comes out to play
the smaller fishies speed away!

Actually I don't know if all the smaller fishies speed away. Perhaps some of them mosey away but no one could blame them for this yellow Cardinalfish seems poised for quick action...even if only in his private dreams here in the Dreamyfish Art Gallery!

Now I am about to do something I don't think I've ever done on this Save Our Oceans blog: pass along a link to a site that sells fish: their page displays photos of reputedly available Cardinalfish of which there are many in glorious colors and stripes. J'adore the blue one!

Personally I'd want to research a fish-procuring company's policies and methods concerning how they procure their offerings to the public of tropical and other fish. Sounds quite lucrative, doesn't it? Especially if certain other wildlife specimen are included in their product line.

However, one reason the link is being included is the paragraph at the bottom of its webpage with info (which has nothing to do with stalking, Australian dentists stealing Clownfish, or with denuding coral reefs of their denizens) that tells how various lighting in aquariums affect the colors of the fish you might order online - and the fact that AquaCon cannot gurantee your fish will look or be the same color or shade of color as you saw online. So there. Seems fair to me.

But tell me: why do some companies use the word con in their names if they want the public to trust them? Oh well. Enjoy the fish photos, they're lovely. But our yellow fellow's mugshot is not among the finny panoply!

Or is he.....?

Stimulus Money to Fund Coral Reef Restoration!

McClatchy News is reporting that $3.3 million from the president's stimulus package is to fund the restoration of coral reefs in Florida and the US Virgin Islands.

All the Dreamyfish here in the Dreamyfish Art collection are psyched to hear the good news and our little blue planet should be as well...

Clown surgeonfish says, Happy Birthday, America!

Here's a lovely little Clown surgeonfish from Western Australia floating by to say Hello!

Having gotten word in the last 3 days of three friends having surgery (one of them shockingly unexpected), I thought perhaps a surgeonfish was the way to swim around here at Dreamyfish Art today.

But don't forget to mosey by my latest blog Two Hours You'll Never Get Back where you'll find more of my drawings on several themes (including fishies), a bunch of other stuff (such as America's Solar Return 2009 for July 4th!), and some very interesting links to other blogs and sites as well...

So Clown surgeonfish and I say, Happy 233rd birthday, America, you're still my only nag in the race!

Knightfish, the pencil portrait

At last! I've managed to render a fresh new Dreamyfish image and it looks as if he's a Knightfish, Cleidopus gloriamaris De Vis swum over from Houtman Albrohos of Western Australia...and here you spy him ensnared within his favorite, rather colorful, dream.

Or, more to the point perhaps you, dear viewer, are merely a figment of a fragment of Sir Knightfish's fondest dream...?

Well, are your socks damp? That'd be your clue.

Actual size of drawing: 11 1/2" X 11 1/2" unmatted, mailed flat; original available $90US; contact Jude for more details at: jude dot cowell at hotmail dot com. Thanks!

Rare Species Netted in the Philipines!

Sea Basin Expedition Nets Rare Species from the Celebes Sea south of the Philippines, a biologically diverse area of ocean.

Some possibly 'new' species include a transparent sea cucumber, a spiny 10-tentacled orange worm, and a black jellyfish. Follow the AP article's link to see a photo of some of these rare denizens formerly hidden so well from our view.

And since I've never drawn a black jellyfish (didn't know there were any!) here's a noble re-post of a white jelly, titled,Jelly's Leavin' by yours truly using Prismacolor oil pencils and Rexel Derwent Watercolour pencils.

Neptune's realm is giving up some of its mysterious species, it seems, and Neptune rules fish and fishing 'nets' too!

Giant Red Kelp revealed...

...to be...

Giant Red Kelp!

A few goldfish busy themselves nearby as they plan for their futures.

Other specimens of artist-invented plants waft along with gentle, imaginary currents undersea as the ubiquitous bubbles arise from unseen gills and escape upward, toward the one ray of skylight.

This drawing reflects my continued aim to blend on paper the earthy realism which Saturn represents with the nebulous, mystically spiritual Neptune of the watery realms.

Spiritual aspirations are the province of Neptune's trident, and Neptune's links to Pisces, the two fish swimming in opposite directions, and to Creativity, make it a seductive muse perfect for artwork, music, literature, and film...dissolving Neptune is the urge to merge, while Saturn hardens and solidifies.

Want to have your most flattering photo taken?

Do it when Neptune connects with your Venus, or when Venus links up to your Neptune.

Start with beautiful Venus as the Attraction Principle, then add Neptune to diffuse light and cast your visage piquantly inside a rosy glow...you'll be a *smash, Dahling...it's one of the magical effects of Neptune's Veils!

*harmonious relationship between Venus and Neptune in the natal chart may be required for best results; offer not valid outside solar system.
