Salmon Aquaculture now improved!

Perhaps you heard Living On Earth today and the interview concerning Monterey Bay Aquarium's Sea Food Watch giving its first-ever seal of approval to AquaSeed Corporation of Rochester, Washington, for coming up with a better, safer way to feed farmed salmon.

Salmon is my very favorite fish-for-dinner yet I know that for years now consumers have been warned off farmed salmon because it contains high levels of contaminants. Yet often here in Georgia, farmed salmon is all that's available for purchase.

Well, I hope these innovations in fish farming 'catch' on with salmon farmers across the land!

Now I have no drawings of salmon but here's a small Bengal sergeant who wishes to salute the AquaSeed Corporation - good job!

Clown surgeonfish says, Happy Birthday, America!

Here's a lovely little Clown surgeonfish from Western Australia floating by to say Hello!

Having gotten word in the last 3 days of three friends having surgery (one of them shockingly unexpected), I thought perhaps a surgeonfish was the way to swim around here at Dreamyfish Art today.

But don't forget to mosey by my latest blog Two Hours You'll Never Get Back where you'll find more of my drawings on several themes (including fishies), a bunch of other stuff (such as America's Solar Return 2009 for July 4th!), and some very interesting links to other blogs and sites as well...

So Clown surgeonfish and I say, Happy 233rd birthday, America, you're still my only nag in the race!

Rare Species Netted in the Philipines!

Sea Basin Expedition Nets Rare Species from the Celebes Sea south of the Philippines, a biologically diverse area of ocean.

Some possibly 'new' species include a transparent sea cucumber, a spiny 10-tentacled orange worm, and a black jellyfish. Follow the AP article's link to see a photo of some of these rare denizens formerly hidden so well from our view.

And since I've never drawn a black jellyfish (didn't know there were any!) here's a noble re-post of a white jelly, titled,Jelly's Leavin' by yours truly using Prismacolor oil pencils and Rexel Derwent Watercolour pencils.

Neptune's realm is giving up some of its mysterious species, it seems, and Neptune rules fish and fishing 'nets' too!

Penned Fish on White

White paper not white bread!

Yes, Karla F...I do occasionally draw on white paper and while this is no particular sort of fish, he clearly considers himself to be Every Fish...and a Dreamyfish all the same.

A Gathering of Mermaids

This is not the first time Dreamyfish Art has been visited by mermaids who are, after all, friends of little fishes everywhere...

Mosey over to Lim's Limericks if you want to read the latest political limerick from Mr.A.Cat, formerly in service to our nation.
You'll find sassy and pithy verse with not a purr in sight...yet no rhymes are injured unduly in the creating of these lims.
