Did Humans Make Oceans Lose Its Memory? Geeky Science! - Thom Hartmann

May 12, 2022

Here's progressive broadcaster and author Thom Hartmann with one of his recent Geeky Science segments:

And here's a Yellow-eyed surgeonfish floating in from Western Australia to watch Thom's video!

Return of the Western Blue Devil!

April 27, 2020: It's the Western Blue Devil swimming into Dreamyfish Art again!

Pencil portrait: Western Blue Devil, Paraplesiops sinclairi (Hutchins 1987) from the environs of Western Australia's southwestern waters and depicted here within his (her?!) favorite 'dream scenario' by Jude Cowell, an artful blend of Saturn (realism) + Neptune (visionary) which I count as a symbolic nod to my Sun Capricorn-Moon Pisces personality combination!

So nod your noggin, dear reader, if you know what I mean!!

And as always, you're cordially invited to visit Jude Cowell Astrology if and as you wish!

Is This New? The Emerald Fish Investigate! by Jude Cowell

In real life, this drawing is hu-u-ge! Emerald Fish Investigate!; oil and watercolour pencil on black paper by yours truly Jude Cowell (c)1996--2020 and beyond; photo via a Samsung phone because the drawing won't fit a regular scanner bed at all even though images aren't as crisp as you and I would prefer. Yet I'm thinking a blurry phone snap creating an excerpt from my over sized drawings is about the only way that larger, long hidden illustrations will ever come out of their shells, yawning as they dare...

Wonderful You: You're in the Fish's Dream!

So if you may, consider this posting a tiny peep eye! to You from the emerald fishes who, admittedly, turn up quite often within my botanical fish portraits with their impossibly exotic backgrounds. Well, fish dream, too!

~:~

Perhaps it's mild synchronicity that today (Mar 2, 2017) such an investigation by the emerald fishes occurs at this moment here because in a related story about certain current events we discover that more research {is} needed into 'intrusive' seismic surveys: Western Australian fishing industry asserts. Or, perhaps the guilty parties should cease and desist causing harm to the environment making unnecessary their expensive studies (intended to delay action).

Those responsible should do what needs to be done or improve what needs improving. Like Obamacare. Improve it, don't kick millions of Americans to the curb without health insurance, you Washington blighters. Oops! Mea culpa! It's my indignation at in-breach-of-the-public-trust politicians who are nearly completely worthless as 'our' representatives. If Republicans and enabling Democrats proceed with their austerity measures, let's kick power elite freeloaders off taxpayer-funded health insurance programs for a year and see how they like it.

Astrological Neptune Erodes, Dissolves, and Veils

Intimidation, bribery, blackmail, pocket-lining, graft, fraud, insider trading, pay offs, favors, you name it. That's my former city of residence, the Virgoan-Scorpionic Washington DC. And though I miss the beauty of the place, to me its citywide Masonic architecture looks more and more mausoleum baby with each passing year while the Halls of Power grow dustier, draftier, and leakier by the Neptunian drop. Could the dripping sound We the People hear be pouring from our nation's 1776 Neptune in earthy Virgo?

Two Years On: Sick Fish at BP Spill Site

BP Oil Fiasco Keeps on Giving Death and Destruction

Open sores aren't the only indication of BP's oil 'spill' damage to Gulf Coast wildlife as Ornate butter fish discovered while surfing the Net...

Illustration: Ornate butter fish, Pentapodus porosus; habitat: Exmouth Gulf, Western Australia; oil & watercolour pencil drawing by Jude Cowell; all rights reserved by artist.

In the Dreamyfish Art spotlight: Fish v Turtle video!

Contenders! Guess who wins this undersea tussle?

Economic analysis excludes BP Deepwater Horizon fiasco!

How crazy is this?

Because how rigged that the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in 2010 is completely left out of calculations affecting future plans being made to drill drill drill...

Rigging numbers--and in this case, leaving out a major event altogether--causes results and conclusions to be skewed, and it's easy to see who benefits from this flawed analysis.

Is Deepwater Horizon Oil Leaking Again? 9.1.11

Sliding Down a Slicky Memory Lane (a BP-Gulf Blowout Deja-vu)

by Jude Cowell

Is the belatedly capped Deepwater Horizon well in the Gulf of Mexico leaking oil? A photo from 2010 indicates this may be so, I'm very sad to tell you.

Remember that happy day when I posted that the 'BP cap is stopping leak' circa July 15, 2010?

The headline then was that no more oil is leaking from the Deepwater Horizon well. Yes, Neptune is deeply involved in the whole BP oil fiasco and its cover-up since in Astrology nebulous Neptune rules oceans, oil, gas, leaks, fraud, deception, veils, illusions, delusions, cover-ups, dispersants and chemicals, poisons, drugs, smothering, and lies.

In a word? BP.

Now it's September 2011 and Scotland's North Sea has recently been breached by an oil leak with environmentalists demanding more answers from Royal Dutch Shell than they've received so far.

As you know, the propaganda going round is that Corporations Are People, Too--until the bagpiper is ready to be paid. Then they skip out on the bill and leave government (we-the-people) with as much of their tab as they can get away with.

Well, the little Red-banded wrasse you see below doesn't seem much impressed with 'royalty' acting badly no matter which flag they fly. He hints that human personages who can't get enough power and wealth need to get wise to their bad selves, back off, and take responsibility for their activities like all Oil Can Harrys end up doing if they criminalize society long enough--creeping about oppressing people and having their misguided way.

Okay, I'll hush about it. For now. And turn you over to Mr. Red-banded in a close-up from his Dreamyfish Art portrait, a botanical pencil rendering by yours truly but within his own imaginary scenario as a colorful backdrop in which to float about in his fondest dreams!

Hey! If you like the occasional fish drawing or Art on the cosmic side, you may wish to browse my Jude Cowell Art Shop @ Zazzle for Dreamyfish Art prints and posters (including the little fellow above), plus other art-decorated goodies such as iPad and iPhone covers waiting for you to check them out as you may!

Oh, and fyi: Stars Over Washington has been recently updated with videos and Political Astrology articles (written in English, not to fret) if you're interested. jc

Bottom of Gulf dead and still oily, says Joye

As you may have heard, Marine Science Professor Samantha Joye saw the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico with her own eyes and says it's still oily and has dead patches. Those elusive 'magic microbes' haven't finished the job.

Joye and her colleagues also say that certain predictions being circulated that 2012 will see the Gulf's miracle recuperation from the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil blow-out are wrong - I say BP must be blowing something hazy along with their pie-in-the-sky notions and slights of hand.

Meanwhile, here in Athens, Georgia, home of the
University of Georgia
(a land-grant and sea-grant insitution), we're proud of Professor Joye's excellent and careful work concerning the Gulf Oil 'spill', a plight caused by men against their fellow man, and we support her efforts to get to the bottom of the situation with honesty...and with science.

But I don't think Pink shrimp goby cares for the bad news at all:

A mystery of dead sparrows in New Zealand (poll)

More Mysterious Bird Deaths February 5, 2011

Rotorua, New Zealand has now seen its own dead birds mystery and this time sparrows have fallen on Rotorua's city streets.

"Storms" are the official guess as to the cause of the deaths yet one must wonder why other storms have not led to the same disturbing outcome. Poison? Eating other creatures contaminated with insecticides or other chemicals?

Governmental experiments? Criminal activities of some kind?

Or is the Magnetic North Pole Shift now in progress messing with their internal directional systems and making them unconscious
suicides?

Could the pole shift be behind recent mass fish deaths as well? Beached whales and dolphins come to mind.

A basic surmise must include the fact that birds move through air while fish move through water. Air and water. Contamination and pollution. Or is there a more direct and nefarious human cause such as scientists who aren't fessin' up?

What do you think?

Please take a moment to answer the poll, upper right. Sonic booms are not on the list but if you think they may be involved, please leave a comment and say so.

No fish portrait today. Just a little Painted bunting flown in from Secret Moon Art to express solidarity with his feathered brethren everywhere. He looks sad, doesn't he?

Coral the Mermaid hearts Aquatic Acoustics!

You know how the sound of ocean waves is lulling to human ears? Well, sounds are what keep sea creatures in business and their lives on course. But human beings are making it more and more difficult for denizens of the deep to survive as our sounds drown out theirs.

Accordingly, Coral the Mermaid (a brand new drawing by yours truly) has floated by to make certain you haven't missed Living On Earth's feature on the important topic of Aquatic Acoustics.

Click to read the LOE interview text or listen to the audio, whichever you prefer! And say Hello to Coral, your siren messenger from the deep blue sea...

Return of the Mystery Fish

Today I'm re-publishing a mugshot: Return of the Mystery Fish for as of yet, no one has left a comment identifying this little blue and yellow fellow. Please ID him if you can!

Yes, naturally I learned my lesson after I had neglected to add Mystery Fish's name to the back of the paper so I've made certain ever since that each fish I draw has both its common and Latin names penciled on back before any portrait is complete - though technically, this drawing has a missing bit toward the fish's tail - have a go @ spotting it if you can!

BP Oil Gusher hearings naming names, says Knightfish

Names are being named for their poor safety decisions that issued from BP's Houston Texas offices just prior to the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon Oil and Methane Gas Blowout in the Gulf of Mexico, and frankly I and my little Dreamyfish Art denizens are glad the truth is finally coming out.

More truth, please! And how about some personal accountability while you're at it?

Well, the official committee report is said to be due out in January 2011 and perhaps we'll hear more info as the months go on.

Meanwhile, here's one of my pencil portraits of a denizen of Western Australia for you now...lone reader, I present to you the Honorable Knightfish!

This noble little Black striped butterfish goes by the alias, Pentapodus vitta (Quoy and Gaimard) and was last seen around Cockburn Sound, Australia which is bordered on one side by Carnac Island where the Slender weed whiting plays.

'Scorpio Girl's new party frock' now a cool Beach Tote!

Know what? It pleases me to announce that one of my drawings Scorpio Girl's new party frock makes a smashing design for a Beach Tote...check out her sepia portrait trimmed coolly in brown, if you wish!

Perhaps if we move to Save Our Oceans before any more dilly-dawdling, we may keep a beach or two...bikinis optional.

Don't go! but if you must, please drop by a new Art Gallery at Sepia Art Theater where make-believe is behind the curtain and thespians may take their gracious bows & accept fragrant bouquets from ardent fans with much Leonine pride...it's Art, Drama, & Chocolates at Sepia Art Theater, and even Julia Child stops by for a small visit.

Here's icon and avatar of the Sepia Art Theater, Cosmea Collyns...that's Cos may' uh...click above and check out her portrait done in sepia as part of an Art Slideshow...

Red fairy basslet spies Pattillo Armadillo!

You know my children's book character Pattillo is an armadillo and some armadillos can walk under water when necessary. Well, in this drawing you see Pattillo Armadillo trundling along through Red fairy basslet's marine neighborhood. Wonder if they spoke any friendly hellos?! I feel as if they did. Well, a nod at least.
